Canon presents the 2nd round awards for Canon – Vu dieu san co photo contest

Ho Chi Minh City, April 29 – Today, “Canon – Vu dieu san co” organizing committee holds the awarding ceremony for winners of the contest 2^nd round. Following the inspirational spirit of the 1^st round, the 2^nd round continues to receive hundreds of works that depict the fun, passion, excitement and drastic moments of the football playfield. Photographer Quang Nhut with his photo entitled “Vu dieu san co” is the winner of the 2^nd round.

Starting from April 1, the 2^nd round of the football photo contest co-organized by Canon, The thao ngay nay (Today Sport) and Vietnam Football Federation has received 91 photos from 18 photographers. Unlike the previous round with most of the submitted photos still focusing on the challenging and tense actions in the playfield, the 2^nd round saw a greater number of entries that describe the “13^th players” or jolly and unique moments outside the field. These photos indicate that “Canon - Vu dieu san co” contest is now appealing to not only professional but also amateur “shooters” who can naturally find out the distinctiveness in every simple moment of the game.

Known as a familiar contestant to “Canon – Vu dieu san co”, photographer Quang Nhut amazed the judgment board with his creative work named “Vu dieu san co” (“Dance in the field”) which receives the first prize of the 2^nd round. The first runner-up prize goes to Hoang Hung with another “Vu dieu san co” (“Dance in the field”) photo and  the second runner-up prize belongs to Duc Cuong with “The da kho” (“Difficult kicking position”) . As there was an irregular prize presented in the 1^st  round, the juries decided to give an additional consolation prize, making a total of 4 consolation prizes in the 2^nd round which belong to Nguyen Hau with “Niem vui chien thang” (“Happiness for Victory”), Ba Chau with “Trong vong tay hanh phuc” (“Within the happy embrace”), Duong Thu with “Mua rong” (“Dragon dance”) and Du Hai with “Quyet liet” (“Fierceful”)

Commenting on the results of the 2^nd round, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Gu, member of the judgment board said “Each time I begin the work of a jury, I am thrilled by the various feelings and emotions captured in more high-quality and inspirational submitted photos. We, the judgment board are so happy that “Canon - Vu dieu san co” has helped bring photography and football closer to create a useful playfield for lovers of both arts”.

 “Canon – Vu dieu san co” 2009 has 6 rounds starting from the 4^th round of the two national football tournaments: Petro Vietnam Gas and Sino Cup 2009 from Mar 6^th to Aug 22^nd, 2009. The third round of the contest will begin from May 1^st and prize announcement is expected on May 31st, 2009. The Organizers will give valuable prizes for winners of each round, which are: 01 First prize: 01 digital camera IXUS 80IS, 01 second prize: 01 digital camera Powershot E1, 01 third prize: 01 Inkjet printer MP198 and 03 consolation prize: 01 Inkjet printer iP1980 each. Prize value totals up to 6.000 USD, a double of the previous year.

This is the second year football fans and photography lovers have palpitated with excitement with each round of “Canon – Vu dieu san co” within the two national biggest football tournaments: Petro Vietnam Gas and Sino Cup 2009. Following the success of Canon – Vu dieu san co 2008 with more than 1.300 photos received during 8 rounds, this year contest continues to bring opportunities for Vietnam photography talents to showcase their creativeness and imagination, capture memorable moments of footballers and supporters in and out of the field.
