“Canon – For a colourful life” video contest launched

Hanoi, April 13, 2009 – Canon, the world leading image solution provider today officially launches the video contest “Canon – For a colourful life”. This is the first video contest that has been organized by Canon in Vietnam and is unlimited to any specific topics. Featuring the theme “For a colourful life”, Canon hopes each submitted clip will be a “colour” that reflects a vibrant picture of our daily life.

Canon’s brand name has been well-known for a number of different photographic activities that have received great public attention such as the photo contest “Canon – Photo Marathon” or the football photo contest “Canon – Vu dieu san co”. Unexceptionally, this time,  the video contest “Canon – For a colourful life” also carries the same goal which is helping users keep valuable moments, thus respect the diversity and the abundance of life. The contest encourages contestants to share memorable and delighted moments under the eyes of “amateur” artists. Participants can use personal video cameras namely cine-cameras, camcorders, digital cameras or even mobile phones with movie camera function to save precious moments in their daily life. “Canon – For a colourful life” will receive submitted works starting from April 20th, 2009 at the address www.xyz provided by video website clip.vn.

Unlimitation in the topics is the most special thing of this contest, which offers contestants an opportunity to freely create and expose their talents as well as unique eye angles about life via their recording devices.  Every single moment in our life such as a cozy family gathering, an innocent laugh of your child, a happy moment beside our beloved ones or a grandiose sightseeing from a trip, etc. could all become memorable moments that may follow each of us until the end of our lives. Saving and keeping these different colourful moments to diversify our live is the main inspiration that builds the theme of “Canon – For a colourful life” contest.

“Canon – For a colourful life” will last for 6 weeks starting from April 20th, 2009 to June 5th, 2009. All Vietnamese citizens can take part in the contest simply by accessing and registering on website clip.vn. The prize structure will include 5 bi-monthly prizes, 4 final prizes and 1 grand prize, for which the awards are Canon’s watches, Canon cameras Powershot E1 and Canon camcorders FS11 respectively. In addition, one best clip voted by visitors will also  be awarded with one camera Powershot E1.

Information of the contest:

Candidates:

• All Vietnamese citizens include those who are interested in technology, recording equipments as well as cinematography and non-professional video clips, etc. are allowed to take part in the contest.
• Candidates can submit their work under individual or group form.  
• Members of Organization Board, Judgment Board and their relatives are not allowed to participate in the contest.

Forms of participation:

• Contestants access website www.xyz to upload their clips and vote for their favorite clips.
• To gain the permission for uploading their clips, users need to register to become a member of website clip.vn. After that, users will log in the contest main page, click on “Uploading clip” to upload their clips to the contest.
• After being uploaded, these clips will be censored by the Board of Organizers. If they match the criterions of the contest and is relevant to Vietnamese laws and culture, they are officially accepted to join the contest. These clips will then be selected and voted by the Board of Judgment and other members. 

Requirements for the submitted clips:

• Submitted clips must be the properties of the contestants or are legally copyrighted. The topics of the clips are not limited. Submitted clips can be arranged carefully basing on a script or simply reflecting spontaneous moments in daily life.
• Duration of each clip should not be too short (more than 30 seconds) and should be featured with good sound and image quality.
• Submitted clips are clips that have not been submitted to any other contest except for contests organized by Clip.vn or Canon.
• The Board of Organizers has the right to hold the copyright and use the submitted clips.
• The content of the clips should be relevant to Vietnamese culture.
• Submitted works does not violate the regulations and the policy of the website clip.vn.

Prizes:

• Every 2 weeks, 5 prizes will the awarded to 5 best clips selected by the Board of Judgment, each prize is a watch.  
• The grand prize decided by the Board of Judgment is awarded to one excellent clip with a Canon camcorder FS11. In addition, there will be 4 supplementary prizes for the Funniest Clip, the best content Clip, the most beautiful scene Clip and the most paintaking clip, each prize will receive one Canon camera Powershot E1.
• Also, one clip that has the highest votes from visitors and members will be awarded with one Canon camera Powershot E1.
